Yorktown Shoppe, Ltd. is a unique venue for colonial era recreations and replicas. The business is located in the historic Burcher Cottage which was built in 1881. Originally a residence, the building has been used as a retail shop since the early 1900's. As with some of the other historic structures in Yorktown, the building is owned by the National Park Service and leased to the current occupants. 
A visitor to the shop will experience a step into the past. Many items displayed for sale are realistic representations of everyday articles used in colonial times. Household items made of hand wrought iron, pewter, brass, and tin are evident in abundance. Hand made pottery, woodcarvings, folk art portraits, and numerous nautical items are displayed throughout the shop. Many of these items are made by local artists as are collections of handmade candles, and fabric folk creations. Very popular are the collections of the miniature Yorktown and Williamsburg houses as well as replicas of lighthouses and other buildings.
Favorites among visitors are the old world balance toys. These reproductions of the late 1800's include nautical, regional, and historical designs.
The shop features colonial apparel such as Jefferson shirts and tri-cornered hats. For ladies young and old there are custom made jumpers and for children there are one-of-a kind outfits for a special 18" doll. Cookbooks, children's books and books of local historical interest are available.
